Would you support Texas breaking free of the Untied States? Do you think Texas could be it's own nation as it was in 1836?

- I support using Texas as a storage dump for the world's nuclear waste.
- I would support Texas breaking free of the US, as long as we were allowed to use the ports as we see fit, and all oil in Texas became the property of US Taxpayers (which we could then use to offset tax revenue). Other than that, I'd be fine with Texas becoming its own nation.
- Why not? It's full of illegal immigrants now. Might as well give it back to Mexico.
- Yes I'd be fine with it if that what the majority of Texans wanted. I'd also support them keeping their own oil and charging the US for use of it's ports.
- I would support it if they completely close their southern border. I believe they would have a better chance at stopping the illegal immigrants than the liberal U.S. government. I also hope that California follows suit.
- Let them; the majority of the Texas population is of Latin heritage. If they don't want to be Americans; loyal to the country, let them dig their own graves.
- No, this will never happen.
- Yes and Yes
- um....we kinda went through this in the 1860s. Remember there were quite a few people in the North that thought "good riddance" when the Southern states seceded. Thankfully, Lincoln had the courage and foresight to understand that the United States had to remain United...even if it took some actual work.
- I would support it due to how much crime it is there the army reservist had two travel in pairs there its a shame.
- The real question is whether or not Texas sees itself as capable and desirous of seceding from the Union. For all the ranting and raving some of their politicians did to promote the idea, they backpedaled pretty quickly when financial bail-out money was being doled out by the federal government.
- Goodbye
- I fundamentally support the RIGHT of any State to secede. Otherwise, we aren't a REAL "republic" and the Constitution isn't worth the paper it's written on. States LEND power to the Fed. If a State cannot take back the power, or claim State Sovereignty (10th amendment) than everything you THINK you know about America is a FRAUD. REGARDLESS of what America has done since the Civil War.... using military force to MAKE a state remain in the Union was fundamentally WRONG and illegal. If States want to secede, the Feds should be bending over backwards to FIX IT.... not FORCE it.
- I have to wonder who tied all them states up first. But if Texas goes I hope my state goes with em.
- Nope Cession = Treason against the United States of America
- I would completely support it. Texas would then be the last place to go for American values when the "change" to Socialism (or, more precisely, Fascism) has at last been fully realized in what is now America.
- No, and I don't think that there is even going to be any effort to secede.
- talk all the crap y'all want but the reality is that Texas could get along far better without the U.S. than the U.S. could without Texas
- Uh, no. Without federal oversight and protection I fear to iimagine what Texans would do to each other. We kind of settled the question of where sovereignty lay within the US in 1865. The other danger, when Texas leavs the union, who'se to say we won't be unundated by Scalawags and Carpetbaggers? Its happened before. I am so thankful to EJ Davis for our weak governors !
- As much as I'd like to go along, the answers are no and no. Do you honestly think we could function as a separate country in the world as it is today? If you check your history, it didn't work all that well in 1836. We breathed a large sigh of relief when we were annexed. I'm a born and raised Texan, but the reality of the world has to be accepted. Very grudgingly. All you people with the hateful comments; we could very easily kick the butt of any other state. Names are being taken.
- yes
